The Orchestra eHealth Suite offers powerful, coordinated modules on which customised eHealth solutions can be built to meet the requirements of a central exchange platform. Our Health Service Bus is an effective integration platform that forms a basis for open and future-proof system architecture. In addition to the modules for unique patient and service provider identification, Orchestra eHealth Suite provides a complete electronic patient record for aggregation of documents, images and structured medical data. Authorised service providers can be given access to patient files via a web portal and patients can view and manage their own files through a patient portal.

Health Service Bus
System integration and orchestration of data flows

The use of a tool such as the Health Service Bus offers extensive possibilities and opportunities for designing your own IT environment. The Health Service Bus is a modular, deeply integratable platform for connecting all existing applications and building an interoperable system environment.

Thanks to its flexibility, the Health Service Bus allows new applications to be connected as needed and existing systems to be continuously optimised. The architecture, which is oriented towards individual customer requirements, allows both simple interface requirements and complex scenarios of a service-oriented architecture to be mapped. The Orchestra eHealth Suite Health Service Bus supports all common communication technologies such as MLLP, TCP/IP, JDBC, SOAP, REST, DICOM Worklist and TLS certificate-based communication. Furthermore, standards such as HL7 v2.x, HL7 v3, FHIR, XML and EDIFACT are supported.

With Orchestra Designer, we offer an ideal user interface for developing and testing largely code-free interfaces. This makes it easier to train employees and increases the ease of maintenance.

DICOM Routing
Control of radiological workflows

The DICOM Routing module extends classical functions of the Health Service Bus by all functionalities for DICOM Routing, MPPS, Dose DB as well as change and anonymisation functions. It is directly integrated into the basic technology of Health Service Bus and thus offers well-known Health Service Bus module comfort and performance.

IHE Clients
Integrate non-IHE-compliant applications into the data exchange

With the IHE Clients module, existing systems are made IHE-capable in the simplest possible way. IHE Clients of the Orchestra eHealth Suite are developed on basis of Health Service Bus architecture and implement the IHE actors Document Source and Document Consumer. Thanks to its modular design, the IHE Clients module also offers possibilities to act as a participant system of the Electronic Health Record in Austria (ELGA) and Electronic Case Record in Germany (EFA 2.0).

App Connect
Integration of web and mobile applications with HL7 FHIR interfaces

The App Connect module provides everything needed to connect web and mobile applications securely and efficiently via HL7 FHIR-based interfaces. Modern, resource-oriented interfaces (REST) allow read and write access to the electronic patient record across all institutions. All access to medical and administrative data is subject to individual authorization checks.

Cross Community Connect
Exchange of patient data with other healthcare networks

The Cross Community Connect module provides IHE-compliant interfaces for exchanging patient data with other healthcare networks. Documents can be sent to other healthcare networks and displayed in a separate view in the Provider Portal module.

Message Filtering Agent
Filters HL7 messages according to patient consent

The Message Filtering Agent module filters HL7 messages without patient consent for cross-institutional data exchange. If neither consent nor objection exists for a patient, associated messages can be temporarily stored. This ensures that data only leaves a medical institution if a patient has consented to the exchange. Patient consent can be generated and managed via web interfaces and the modules Patient Consent Manager and Patient Onboarding.

Clearly identify patients and service providers across institutions

Master Patient Index
Identify and link patient data across institutions

The Master Patient Index module creates the prerequisites for exchanging medical data between institutions. It is a central component of any future-oriented eHealth strategy. Using a powerful matching algorithm, the module compares master data from different systems, links related patient data under a central, unique patient number and creates a reference patient. The Master Patient Index can reduce duplicates, enables the creation of cross-institutional patient files, support cross-institutional processes and improve billing quality. The integration into existing system environments is easy via standardised interfaces based on HL7 or IHE integration profiles.

Patient Quality Manager
Tool for checking and optimising assignment results

The Patient Quality Manager module provides a graphical user interface for checking and manual assignment of patient master data, whose correspondence with the master data of similar patients is too small for automated linking. Task lists give you a quick overview of pending assignment tasks and enable you to compare corresponding patient master data easily and efficiently. You can use statistics to continuously check and improve the quality of data and assignments. The module offers extensive configuration tools that can be used to optimise the matching algorithm to meet the needs of individual customers.

Provider Directory
Directory service for consolidated service provider and organisational data

The Provider Directory module is a central directory of all service providers and organisations and their relationships. By using powerful algorithms, multiple entries can be identified and linked. Especially when integrating local systems from different institutions, the automatic generation of a unique provider identity represents an important added value for cross-institutional use of provider data. Standardized interfaces based on HL7 or IHE integration profiles allow storage, retrieval and export of service provider and organisational information. The creation of digital proof of identity (tokens) and their enrichment with associated service provider data creates a central, cross-institutional authentication service.

Provider Quality Manager
Administration and consolidation of service provider master data

The Provider Quality Manager module provides a graphical user interface that allows managing and manually assigning service providers whose matching data is not sufficient for automated linking. The Provider Quality Manager provides an overview of existing, merged service provider identities and proposes suitable candidates for manual assignment. This creates a central directory with the highest possible data quality.

Secure exchange of medical data across institutions

Document & Image Exchange
Secure storage and interoperable exchange of documents and images

The Document & Image Exchange module contains an IHE XDS-compliant directory of registered documents and image data (document registry) and a central repository for storing documents (document repository). In addition, existing, decentralised document and image archives can be integrated. Via a subscription function, connected primary systems are actively informed about new or changed data. The module provides extensive authorisation functionalities and also checks electronic patient consent when accessing data.

Clinical Data Repository
Storage and exchange of structured medical data

The Clinical Data Repository module stores structured medical data such as laboratory values, diagnoses, procedures, medications, vaccinations, vital signs and allergies. It provides various HL7 interfaces and thus ensures that the data is received securely. Through integration with the Document & Image Exchange module, data can be extracted from structured medical documents and retrieved in consolidated form as an on-demand document. The integrated deduplication and aggregation of multiple existing data allows you to keep an eye on the relevant medical information at all times.

Patient Consent Manager
Creation and administration of electronic patient consent forms

With the Patient Consent Manager module electronic patient consent forms are easy to create and manage. A data protection compliant, cross-institutional data exchange is thus guaranteed at all times. Using the graphical user interface, general or institution-specific consents can be created for a patient and saved as a document. The Document & Image Exchange module evaluates these consents and automatically adjusts access rights to cross-institutional patient records. Existing consent documents can be displayed and selectively deactivated if the patient wishes to withdraw their consent.

Involve cooperating doctors in the treatment process

Provider Onboarding
Creation of a user account and a doctor entry in the directory service

With the Provider Onboarding module, you can create a user account and use different services. After registration, you can link to associated organisations and access patient data that has been approved for you via a web-based provider portal or apps. The necessary authorisation and authentication of these apps is performed via OAuth2.

Provider Portal
Access for service providers to electronic patient files

The Provider Portal module provides simple, web-based access to the electronic patient record across all institutions. You can quickly oversee the entire record, select or sort documents, image data and structured medical data with various filter, grouping and history functions, and view the data in detail. You can also use various communication services integrated in the Provider Portal module. They include the secure exchange of messages related to the record, notification of newly entered documents based on your own subscriptions, uploading of documents, and electronic form management.

Involve patients in the treatment process

Patient Onboarding
Creation of a user account and link to corresponding patient record

With the Patient Onboarding module, patients can easily create user accounts. This enables them to use different services. They can access their data via web-based patient portal and apps. The two-stage self-registration process with email address verification provides required security. After registration, they can link their user account with corresponding electronic patient records across all institutions. Patients can manage their consent for data transfer in the Patient Onboarding module and authorise their apps for data access. Authorisation and authentication of these apps is done via O-Auth2.

Patient Portal
Access for patients to their electronic health record

The Patient Portal module actively integrates patients and their relatives with the treatment team. It provides patients with a view of their medical data such as physician letters, laboratory values or diagnoses in their electronic patient record across all institutions. With the help of a service provider search, patients can quickly find doctors and organisations in their vicinity.

Value-added services for improved cooperation between service providers and patients

Integrated Forms
Structured capture of customer-specific forms

The Integrated Forms module enables high-quality acquisition of structured data by service providers and patients. Electronic questionnaires are used to support the collection of administrative or clinical information, such as anamnesis or follow-up care. Once forms have been approved by the user, they are available in cross-institutional electronic patient records.

Storage and exchange of patient-related appointments

The Appointments module stores examination and treatment appointments for patients in an easily accessible, structured format. Appointments can be received via HL7 messages, which are common in hospitals. In combination with the App Connect module, received appointments can be made available to web and mobile applications via modern HL7 FHIR interfaces. The Appointments module thus takes on a mediating role between the capabilities and communication standards of existing hospital systems and applications used by patients and external service providers.

Core elements of cross-system interoperability

Terminology Server
Management of terminologies and code systems

Terminology Server offers the possibility to manage and query medical terminology and code systems. It provides the basis for a semantically homogenised and integrated system landscape, which can extend over several subsystems. Functions such as version management and the possibility of cross-mapping make everyday medical work easier. Terminology Server works on the basis of the Common Terminology Services 2 standard (HL7 CTS 2) and IHE profile SVS for the import and export of value sets.

Audit Repository
Central data storage for audit logs

Audit Record Repository enables a continuous logging of all transactions performed by the modules of Orchestra eHealth Suite and connected systems. This includes read and write access to patient master data, medical data and documents as well as changes, granting and refusal of access permissions.

The central Audit Repository supports processing of messages according to various audit formats, such as IHE ATNA or HL7 FHIR.

Backup and analysis for Orchestra

ORCA (OrchestraAnalyzer) is a backup and analysis service for your Orchestra installation. Metadata can be collected and analysed. This allows for easier and better monitoring of your systems, abnormal behaviour is detected faster.


  • Backup: The configuration data of your processes is regularly backed up by us and securely stored in the x-tention data centre. In case of a complete failure of your systems, we are able to quickly restore your Orchestra instance. No data worthy of special protection is transmitted.
  • User interface: We provide you with a user interface for graphical representation of your events and error messages. This allows you to react preemptively before a possible system shutdown occurs. This increases your system reliability.
  • The communication between your instance and our data centre is end-to-end encrypted ( public/private key ) via HTTPS.
